Two Little Girls in BlueTwo Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
So it took me a little over two months to finish this book but Mary Higgins Clark is still a fav! Since I've been air traveling a lot lately for my new job I FINALLY had some time to myself to get some fun reading done--other than pharmacology ;) I love a good suspenseful book and "Two Little Girls in Blue" did not disappoint!

NKOTBSB!!!

Last night 5 girls reunited after many years apart and went to see 5 reunited guys (plus BSB joining them for an incredible show including 9 very sext men!!) for their summer tour. New Kids on the Block is by far my favorite boy band of all times! Even though they aren't boys anymore-- we were still the same screaming girls we would have been at a concert 20 years ago. However, now, we were able to enjoy a beer or two at the concert (or after as in the pic showed)! Singing along to all their songs and non stop dancing all night made for a great (and sweaty) time!! I had a blast with some old friends and even got to meet a new one in the process...

Donnie Wahlberg, one of my first crushes in the 4th grade, now all grown up and still handsome as ever! Oh and Donnie, sorry my head was still all sweaty when you grabbed my hair in a hug after the concert (right before i took this picture) See you in Detroit June 16th!!

April: National Stress Awareness Month

Did you know that there is actually a stress awareness month? Oh yes and it's right now, April! I would have thought it was March in my world, but April is 2nd along next to it. There are days that I come home stressed to the max and just want to crawl up in a ball and go to bed and shut out the world and forget about my stresses. Except, the minute I walk into the door I'm greeted by the fur kids and my life is almost always 100% better. I ran across this article on petplace.com and it describes how animals can be one of the best stress relievers out there!

How can u not melt when you see these two faces??!! Plus when they greet you with such enthusiasm it makes you think you left them for weeks, not hours. Even though Baylie went through a bit of a stressful adjustment when Charley came into our lives, i can't help thinking (and hoping) they are furever best buds now :)

Spring Cleaning Projects

With the weather this past weekend being quite gorgeous we took the opportunity to do some spring cleaning and finish some projects that sat unfinished over the winter. SO of course we called Dad over!! First, Steve painted the unfinished wall to our back porch where there was a previous window from the old kitchen. Then my dad put the trim back up around our new energy efficient front door, then he put trim around the sauna door in the basement...i found wood that looked like it was meant to go there, not sure why the previous owners never finished it(??) but it looks so much better now. I, myself did a little cleaning around the house and out on the back porch--with an 80 degree day approaching, i needed to get my outdoor sanctuary ready!!
**Of course one fur child was ready to pose for the photo op :)

I then headed outside to do some spring yard cleanup. Boy did our yard need some TLC over the winter. Think, 2 dogs...twice the poo = yuck!! I know! But i also trimmed down our lilac bushes out back. Frankly, it were more like a big dead tree that needed to be done a long time ago! PLus we are fencing in the backyard in a few weeks so i decided on getting a head start on cleaning up the overgrown mess.

Oh and after the 85 degree (record breaking) day, look what popped open smiling on monday morning--My first daffodil blooms of the year!! These literally opened up during the night time because when i was outside raking on sunday they hadn't bloomed yet. They are so happy that it's finally spring--me too!

Knitted Knockers

I saw a story on the news the other night and it caught my eye because I was knitting with the TV going in the background. It was about groups of women who knit breasts to be used in place of prosthetic ones for women who have had mastectomies as the result of breast cancer. What an incredible idea! Sure isn't your traditional grandma's knitting project...

Lil' Lemmonita

Yesterday we got together for a baby shower for my friend Abby, who is also my Matron of Honor. She's due to have a baby girl April 25th. She and her hubby Scott are keeping mum about the baby's name so I've nicknamed her little lemmonita :) Reason being, their last name is Lemmon. So the surprise of what's been on my knitting sticks is now revealed...a newborn baby Lemon Hat!!! When Abby opened it, she said with a big smile on her face "Where did you find this?"" To her surprise, I respond, I MADE IT!!! :) LOL, it was a definite Ohhhsss and Ahhhhsss hit with the other ladies as well :) And my friends never knew my creativity...

I can't wait to meet little Baby Lemmon in a few weeks :)

3 More Months...UPDATE!

Yup, that's right, three months till the BIG DAY! Three more Months and Steve and I are getting hitched ;) People keep asking me if i am getting stressed with all the planning and I'm actually not. I'm just sitting here waiting for all this stress to happen. Where is it? Maybe because we've been engaged for over a year now and I've had lots of time to get things figured out and done...maybe not. Maybe it all creeps up in the last few weeks to the wedding...maybe not. As for our planning, we've got all the major stuff done and the production part is under way, or maybe I should say the payment part. But here are a few links to give you a little sneak peak of what we've been up to when it comes to planning :)

This past friday night we finally booked a photographer. Our Photographer we booked is Phrené (sounds like Renee with a PH) Photography. After narrowing down our choices from what seems like a few dozen favorites, we booked Phrené after I sent her an email loving her work and explaining what we were looking for and she agreed to meet with us at her studio!!! Her website stated that was closed for booking for summer weddings, so it was all meant to be! S and I are so excited to work with her, we loved her work, her studio, her passion, and her photography/art educational background--she's a graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design.

Last Wednesday evening after work Steve and I met with a travel agent who gladly stayed after hours to accommodate our work schedules and we booked our Honeymoon!!! Tracy @ Dolpin Travel is my new forever travel agent :) She was awesome! After much thinking about what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go, we finally decided on someplace tropical. Even though we will be traveling in HOT July, we still wanted to get away to another paradise with blue waters, white sands and palm trees! Tracy discussed some options in our budget and (after initially NOT wanting to go to Mexico) we decided on the Riviera Maya, MX. Mexico is beautiful and the resorts are world class. We are staying at a brand new (built in 2008) Secrets Resort. There are several Secrets Resorts in the area and we will be able to utilize them all if we want to. They have received awesome ratings and been featured on the travel channel and even a Trip Advisor's "Traveler's Choice" Top 10 Hotels for Romance, 2010.

Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet with a friend of a friend who does graphic design out of her home and designs wedding invitations. I had what I wanted in mind but couldn't find it after searching many upon many websites and ordering tons of examples. Not only is Sarah designing me exactly what I want, I also get the friends and family discount :)

Yesterday S and I stopped into Dunhill Tuxedo after a friend referred us to them because he used them for his wedding suits. We had a wonderful experience and found exactly what we wanted! After a terribly frustrating experience at Mens Warehouse last weekend, i was so relieved that everything we wanted and more was available at Dunhill. PLUS, the guys now have the option to either rent or purchase their suits--BONUS!! :)

The past few weekends we spent some quality time doing our wedding registries. We have registered at Crate and Barrel, Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond, and we are going to finish up with some manly items aka Tools at Ace Hardware. We originally were going to register with Lowes but their wedding registry was all done online and I for the life of me couldn't find it on their website. So, we nixed that idea. Ace Hardware actually promotes their registry options so we're gonna check it out this week, so we'll see what we end up with. Either way, we have enough items covered in our other 3 registries :)

Hmm, let's see what else do we have done. We booked Paradise Band a few months ago as well as Rev. Carleen Burns to perform the ceremony. Steve's Grandma Miller is making our cake (she was a professional cake maker in her prime). I bought my dress about a year ago, now I just have to do some final alterations because I've accepted the fact that my chest just won't grow any larger! I purchased my wedding shoes the other day (Patent Leather "Coach" Flip Flops) and my bridesmaids all should have their dresses by now. We have a time line all set for the evening of the wedding at Bay Pointe and our 50% deposit paid, so I guess at this point there is no going back :)

The new Apple Icon?

Yesterday both doggies had a (MUCH NEEDED) grooming appointment. It's gotten a bit hard to tell the two apart these days because Charley is grown into such a handsome Westie. Can YOU tell who this is peeking behind my computer on the ottoman?
